Students admitted by entrance examination must meet University minimum entry requirements of at least five credits, including credits in English and a Science subject, in not more than two sittings, in the West African School Certificate or its equivalent.
Direct entry candidates must hold one of the following qualifications:
- Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) with at least merit in Library and Information Science;
- Diploma in Library and Information Science with at least merit;
- Higher School Certificate/G.C.E. Advanced Level in at least two subjects.
Students successfully graduating in the programme are well equipped for higher degree programmes in library and information science. They are also equipped for rewarding employment in libraries such as national and public libraries, academic libraries, special libraries, and school libraries.
